headphones: the case against

A recent study warns of the dangers of headphones: in particular, not paying attention, not hearing warnings, and walking in front of trains. In general, the solipsism of headphone-wearing could prove dangerous to pedestrians, apparently. Personally, I've never felt comfortable wearing headphones in public, or crowds, or even when running. It cuts me off from my (social and natural) environment.
